DATA GATHERING |
|
This module deals with data gathering for M&E, including rapid assessment, and is based on the premise that no one method is best; mixing methods is always better.
The first part of this module focuses on the challenge of choosing data collection methods. This involves exploring the criteria used for judging data collection methods and the various considerations involved in choosing from a range of methods.
Part two of this module explores the advantages and disadvantages of data collection methods and the challenges in managing their implementation.

LINKS WITH OTHER MODULES
|
This module flows naturally from the process of "Framing information needs" covered in MODULE 4.
Links should also be made between the choice of data collection methods covered here and sessions in MODULE 3 on who carries out M/E activities (Part 2) as well as on M&E in unsafe conditions (Part 3). Sessions on selecting indicators, Part 3 of MODULE 2, if not already covered may need to be integrated here. |
