Giving juvenile detainees the right to education in Moldova

Supporting juvenile justice in Albania
In late 1990s, Albania’s pre-trial centres and prisons were notorious for mistreating children and ignoring their status as minors. To protect the rights of children, UNICEF has assisted in developing a comprehensive juvenile justice system in Albania.

Serving time in a Ukrainian youth detention centre
Across Ukraine, young people continue to be detained in closed institutions such as at Berezhany juvenile detention facility in the west of the country. There are currently about 180 boys serving sentences here.
